Why is pasture-raised meat better?
It's from happy omnivores!
Like their ruminant friends, our pigs and chickens live in a more natural environment than those raised indoors. The pigs live in the pasture, eating plants, bugs, worms and whatever else they can find in addition to their hog feed. They have huts to get out of the weather if they choose and a drinking fountain and sprinkler for comfort when it's hot.
The chickens free range the yard, pasture and garden where they also eat whatever they choose (even frogs and snakes!). They have access to feed and water and we put them in the coop at night to guard against predators or during bad weather.
