As close to wild as you can get
No fences, cages or boundaries for these birds!
American Heritage Farm is proud to offer something hard to find: 100% free-range guinea. Our guinea flock started from eggs we got from a neighbor and had our chickens hatch in 2014. For the last two seasons they have hatched broods of their own in our pasture. They have done an excellent job of raising the keets until adulthood, which is not easy with cats, dogs and flying predators around!
With the farm as their home base, they roam wherever they feel inclined. They are completely free to forage in the pastures. woods and farm fields. They have access to shelter but choose to go into the coop only in the worst of winter weather, preferring to roost in the trees at night.
Our guineas are not a heritage breed but we love them because they do a great job eating ticks and weed seeds without disturbing the landscaping or eating (much of) our garden. They are low maintenance and fun to watch, although a bit noisy at times!
